Designing user-centric, safe and secure environments

Oberlanders sectors custodial justice

We design secure, user-centric spaces which are technically informed and commercially viable, with safety and longevity in mind.

From new build to refurbishment and across many environments, all with differing needs, our activity across the sector is diverse. Our specialist design teams are currently supporting key projects with large scale defence companies and naval infrastructure providers.

Creating technically resolved, innovative design solutions, be it for backlog maintenance work to existing buildings or complex new buildings, ensures that a client’s requirements are adhered to. Our designs are founded on using robust materials to safeguard longevity whilst also promoting a calming and welcoming environment for all stakeholders in what can otherwise be pressurised circumstances.

Sequencing, phasing and buildability strategies which are focused on the safety and wellbeing of staff and occupants are core design principles. The robust testing of ideas and continuous stakeholder engagement enables designs which are compliant, robust and fit for the future.

We have worked in the government and defence sector for many years on a range of projects from new build to refurbishment and across many environments, all with differing custodial needs. At the heart of designing for these needs, is a commitment to understand how all stakeholders use a space, right from the start. This is how we approach every project.
