Having been shortlisted for the Scottish Awards earlier this year, two of our projects have progressed to the RICS National Awards 2024.
We are extremely excited to share that the Gateway to Nature Centre, Corrieshalloch Gorge project for the National Trust for Scotland has been shortlisted for the Land Management and Sustainable Development category while Strathnaver Museum is shortlisted in the Environmental Impact category.
Both will proudly take their place against competition from across the UK.
In March we shared the Scottish shortlistings for the regional RICS awards which showcase the most aspirational initiatives and developments in land, real estate, construction and infrastructure and highlight projects that demonstrate value.
Shortlisted for RICS Scotland – Public Sector Award, was the Gateway to Nature Centre serving the National Trust for Scotland’s nature reserve at Corrieshalloch Gorge near Ullapool. Oberlanders worked closely with the wider design team which included Gardiner Theobald, Narro, Rybka and Horner + Maclennan to provide a gateway to the unique nature reserve which is successfully delivering a new and enriched visitor experience. The project is a wonderful example of cohesive team working to design and deliver a complex engineering solution on a hard to reach and challenging site, within the constraints of the pandemic and escalating construction costs.
Another shortlisting was Strathnaver Museum for RICS Scotland – Heritage award. The refurbishment project started over ten years ago and has been a labour of love for the dedicated volunteers and design team who have worked hard to ensure this northern cultural beacon is preserved for future generations. A range of specialist skills resulted in a carefully constructed design team which included Oberlanders, WSD Scotland, Fairhurst, MAAC Studio, CDMM, O’Brien Construction and Alder Specialist Building Surveyors. The response to the project has been overwhelming, with dwell time increasing as visitors stay longer and with increased gift shop sales enabling a successful outlet for local products and publications
Strathnaver Museum
Congratulations to all involved in these wonderfully unique projects, we can’t wait to hear the outcome of the grand final in October.
