As a member, we'll be contributing to the creation of hospitals, schools and homes in the places that need them most. A truly inspiring initiative to be part of.
Article 25’s vision is to improve access to healthcare, education and shelter across the Global South. The charity has been responsible for creating some amazing projects with lasting legacies in the communities in which they were created.
As the UK’s leading architectural non-governmental organisation working in this geography, we're privileged to become members of it’s ‘More than a Building’ initiative.

The Cheka Sana Shelter project
The Cheka Sana Shelter project offers children who have been displaced due to poverty, hunger and family disintegration, a secure environment where they can process trauma, develop life skills and work towards family reunification or finding appropriate guardianship.
Article 25’s design for the Cheka Sana shelter will house up to 40 children in dormitories, with shared dining and classroom spaces to foster a sense of community. Additional space enables vocational training workshops, a trauma room for acute care, a medical room and recreational space. All this has been designed to operate off-grid, miniminising reliance on absent municipal utilities by using an on-site borehold and solar panels to meet the childrens needs.
The new accommodation will bridge a gap in current services providing 24/7 care. Construction is expected to commence in 2025, offering a long term solution to homelessness and supporting Tanzania’s more vulnerable youth.
We're really excited about our new membership where we'll have the opportunity to contribute to future projects, just like this one.
You can learn more about the 'More than a Building' initiative and membership options through the Article 25 website.

It’s a real privilege to be part of 'More Than a Building' and contributing to work that genuinely changes lives. It’s a wonderful example of the good that can come from the construction industry’s network coming together.
